Our Story...

Amy Grant - Owner

Hi there! My name is Amy and I'm the face behind WeePantz and a major nappy and fabric addict!

WeePantz began in 2009 when (after making my son's nappies) I made the decision to share my nappies with the world by attending a few markets in my local area and also by starting a website (it looked so much different back then!!).

I was always going to use cloth nappies on my son. I was never a fan of the disposable options when I used them part time on my daughter. The cost, the stink and of course why would I put my baby in something that uncomfortable? I of course dont wear plastic undies!

Using cloth was always my #1 option and as I had been sewing for a long time (it will be 20 years next year!), I decided to make a few nappies and try them out on my baby. I made my first lot of nappies in September 2008 when I was still pregnant, and made them quite small as I had been told my baby was going to be small too.

Oliver came along in October and his chubby little 9lb 5oz frame was nothing like the "small" baby the doctors told me I'd have, and he outgrew these nappies almost immediately.

So I made more... My first run of what I now sell as my small nappies was what I then created and they worked well for us. And decided to try out a few of the brands that were around as well. (Remember, I am a nappy addict! there is no such thing as too many nappies!)

Anyway, so after a few months of trying them out, we (my partner and I) found ourselves using the nappies I had made for our son more often than the big brands for the simple reason that they fit better and they worked better. And after a few others got me to make them some too, I decided to try my hand and selling a few at a local market in a suburb close to my house.

At my first market, I sold NOTHING... it was devastating. I am a determined person though, so I went back the next month and sold 2 things, and so things got better and better and then I got sick.

Some people would argue that its not a real sickness, but Post Natal Depression is a very real illness, and I pretty much didnt do anything for MONTHS. I sat in a chair and looked at my sewing machine but didnt do anything. My son was unwell in this time too, and ended up in hospital which was so scary and life consuming that not much WeePantz stuff really happened.

I spoke to my doctor, went on medication, and after a few months actually felt like doing things again. I started doing markets again, and this time I went all over Melbourne. Like I said before, I am a determined person, and I was determined to give WeePantz a real crack!

WeePantz Old Market Setup

This is one of my old market stalls, things are set up so differently now and I have so much more stock.

When I started doing markets again, and also relaunched our website, I didnt look back and I now share my nappies with lots of different people all over Australia and the world and even have a few retailers who stock my products which is something I am so proud to have achieved so far.

I love to tell people about cloth nappies, I love to get people involved with cloth and dispel the myths involved with cloth nappies that so many people believe.

You DONT have to soak them!

You DONT have to fold them!

They are NOT hard to use, or clean or look after!

They are NOT gross!

AND...

Your baby WILL be MORE comfortable in CLOTH NAPPIES than in disposable options!

I am so glad to be able to share my nappies with you, and I really hope you give them a go as I know you will love them, just like myself and so many others who have now tried them do.
